Silver Creek Primary’s developmental preschool program includes students aged 3-5 who are eligible for special education services and their typically-developing peer role models.  The curriculum is aligned with Indiana’s Foundations to the Academic Standards and fosters the development of communication, social, motor, and academic skills.   About half of the students have special needs, while half are typically developing peer role models.   The classes are structured to meet individual student needs and include 3 distinct programs.
1. Dragons Preschool meets 4 days per week for 3 hours each day and focuses on kindergarten readiness.  Peers must be at least 4 years of age by August 1 of the current school year.
2. Jr. Dragons Preschool meets 3 days per week for 3 hours per day and includes peers who are 4 years old by January 1 of the current school year.  This class focuses more on social and communication skills and early school readiness.
3. Hatchlings Preschool meets 2 days per week for 3 hours and is intended for our youngest students who are working on “learning to learn” behaviors.
To be considered as a preschool peer, your child must be 4 years of age on or before January 1st, 2020, live in the Silver Creek attendance area, and be potty-trained.  We will accept applications for preschool peers at Silver Creek Primary April 1st – April 12th during normal office hours, 8:00-3:00.  The application includes a section for your child to complete, so you can either bring him/her with you or take it home and return it to our office before April 12th.  All applications received after April 12th will be placed on a waiting list.  Please see the pdf for more information about our PALS preschool program.
If you feel your child may be eligible for preschool as a student with special needs, please contact Heather Smith at 812-248-7271 or
